Coastal Inspired Silver Jewellery

Hi, thank you for visiting my website please do take a look around. I’m Gill, I live and work in Seaton in East Devon and I design and make all the SilverRipples Jewellery, my pieces are all made by hand using traditional silversmithing methods and tools. My designs are inspired by the movement of the sea, its interaction with the coastline and the way the light changes the colour of the surface.

I sell my pieces at craft fairs and country shows, through a few shops and galleries and on Etsy. I’m planning on adding a shop to my website but in the meantime clicking on an image in the ‘shop’ pages on here will take you to SilverRipples Jewellery on Etsy.

Creating handmade silver jewellery pieces that my customers enjoy wearing or gifting to loved ones brings me great joy and a sense of pride. More and more I am being asked to tweak my designs to suit, or to design something new and bespoke and I love the challenges these pieces bring. If you like my style and designs and would like to discuss having something made especially for you please contact me.

My latest collection - Bubbles sterling silver jewellery

I have a growing obsession with this texture; it’s sparkly, it’s tactile and it’s different. Oh, and it’s a lot of fun to create. You can expect to see a lot more pieces of unique jewellery added to this collection but if you have ideas of your own for a bespoke piece please get in touch.

Eco friendly Jewellery made from recycled recycled sterling silver

No, that’s not a typo in the heading, the supplier I get my silver stock from now certifies that it is 100% recycled, then I recycle my waste to make these organic looking silver circle pendants. They are made by carefully melting the clean scrap, offcuts and trimmings produced from making other sterling silver jewellery pieces. They are are all unique, some with added bobbles (also made from scrap) and small sparkly gemstones (definitely not scrap but responsibly sourced). There are a couple of these silver necklaces available in my Etsy shop but if you want one made especially, perhaps with a birthstone, or a favourite stone or two, please get in touch.

Events (click here to see more)

My diary is fast filling up with 2022 events which I’m so looking forwards to. The best thing about my job is meeting the people who love my jewellery and support my dream of having a creative business.
These are my upcoming events but there are more dates on the events page.

Devon Open Studios

As a member of the Devon Artist Network I am excited to be taking part in the Devon Open Studios in September. Pop over to the events page for more details of this County wide in person event.

Commissions

“If you like my designs but want something a little different made for you please don’t hesitate to get in touch”

I mean this most sincerely as creating a special piece of unique jewellery designed by combining the customers ideas with my own is one of the things I love most about my job. If you think you might like some bespoke jewellery made just for you, then take a look at my blog page for more information.

The pieces below were all commissions.

Hallmarked sterling silver jewellery

All my jewellery is made from responsibly sourced, often recycled sterling silver and to conform to British law regarding selling precious metals I have my heavier pieces hallmarked. If you’d like more to know more about the hallmarking laws in this country and about sterling silver pop over to my blog page where I’ve done my best to explain.

Packaging and posting

If the item of silver jewellery that you order is in stock I will post it to you as soon as I can, normally within a couple of days. Your  jewellery will be wrapped in tissue and packed in a bespoke box but if you would like gift wrap, ribbon and a card you can add this to your purchase at the checkout. If your purchase is a gift I can also post direct to your loved one if that makes it quicker and easier for you, just let me know.
Some pieces are made to order which will take a little longer, especially if the item needs to be sent to the Assay Office for hallmarking. In which case I will be in touch soon after you place the order to let you know the timescale. If you need something like this in a hurry please do contact me and I’ll do my very best to help.

Work in progress - on the bench this week

Sometimes I design on paper or on my iPad but often my designs evolve by messing around on the bench. I thought you might like to see some works in progress so I’ll pop some photos here. As you can see, silver doesn’t look at all glamorous while it’s in the making, the ‘dirt’ is firescale caused by the torch. It cleans off with citric acid before the piece is filed and polished.

Just for you

If you’d like to be the first to see new collections and designs, to know about events I’ll be attending and to have access to exclusive offers including free gift wrapping on every order please pop your details here to be on my VIP list.
